Outlast Trials Ex-Pop
The Outlast Trials Ex-Pop, short for Experimental Population, are the secondary antagonists of The Outlast Trials: failed test subjects of Murkoff's early experiments, now used as obstacles in the trials.

What the Ex-Pop are in The Outlast Trials
Dr. Easterman sorts the Ex-Pop into three ranks: Prime Assets, Specialists and Grunts. Average-height Ex-Pop are General Ex-Pop, called Grunts, while those with limb extensions and extra strength are Heavy Ex-Pop, called Big Grunts.
Reagents get no weapon of any kind, so stealth and whatever item is lying nearby are the only defences.
Prime Assets
Prime Assets are the most recognisable and most dangerous Ex-Pop. Fandom's page lists Leland Coyle, Mother Gooseberry, Franco Barbi, Otto and Arora Kress, Liliya Bogomolova and Prescott Whitehorn as the Prime Assets. They rule trial environments, for example Coyle's Police Station, and other Ex-Pop serve them. The Kress Twins page covers one pair.
Specialists and Grunts
Specialists include the Pouncer, who ambushes from hiding spots, and the Berserker, who is blind and hunts by sound. Idle Grunts are not swayed by a Prime Asset's charisma but follow orders to avoid drawing attention.
How to deal with Ex-Pop
Rigs are your main answer: the Stun rig and Blind rig stop or hide you from most Ex-Pop, and the X-Ray rig shows where they are. Amps such as Invisible help you hide. See the best loadout guide for picks.
Outlast Trials Ex-Pop loadout picks
To plan around the Ex-Pop, start from the enemies hub and the Ex-Pop page, then pick a rig from the rig tier list and try it in the loadout builder. The best loadout guide has full sets, and the variators guide shows how a trial can change who hunts you.
